During our first #BlackTransLivesMatter protest we shut down streets in order to highlight the violence black trans* people face including the murder of five black trans* women in the United States. During the first #BlackShutdown two of our members crashed two stores and a hotel, and shutdown streets for All Black Lives. On April 25 we will shutdown downtown Seattle again for Black Trans* Lives. Fellow black trans* people are encouraged to come out and express your anger at issues like: unemployment, sexual violence, being forced into suicide, lack of access to services, homelessness, police brutality, erasure, and other issues black trans* people face. From the US, to Canada, to Brazil, to Uganda and everywhere, Black Trans Lives Matter. A black trans* femme member of our organization will be leading the protest. | FOR THOSE WHO WILL PHYSICALLY BE AT THE PROTEST: This action is metro accessible from the light rail train or from bus stops at 3rd and Pine and 4th and Pine. This will be an outdoor event that will require moving for moderate distances. FOR THOSE WHO WON'T BE ABLE TO COME TO THE PROTEST:If you cannot come out to the protest in person you can still participate by following the twitter hashtags #BlackTransLivesMatter and #BlackShutdown to stay informed about the protest and to retweet events from the protest. PLEASE BRING: -Warm clothing -Food and water -A protest buddy -Your personal struggle with being black and trans* in the Seattle area Let's show the people of Seattle what we mean when we say that All Black Lives Matter!! |
